Wilson & Milo | Image Guidelines

  • Do

LIGHTING. Take your photo in natural daylight or a brightly lit room for the best colour accuracy. Our artists work directly from your image, so good light means a truly lifelike result.

  • Do

CAMERA QUALITY. Use a smartphone or high-quality camera to capture sharp, clear detail. Blurry or low-resolution images limit what our artists can achieve.

  • Do

FACE + NECK VISIBLE. Make sure your pet's full face and neck are clearly in frame, free from shadows. The more our artists can see, the more detail goes into your portrait.

  • Do

NO FILTERS OR HEAVY EDITS. Avoid heavily filtered or edited photos. Our artists need to see your pet's true colours to create an accurate, lifelike piece.

  • Do

EYE LEVEL & FACING FORWARD. A photo taken directly in front of your pet at eye level works best. Other positions are absolutely fine, but your portrait will reflect exactly that pose.

  • Do

ACCESSORIES. Please note that collars, leashes, bows, hats, and accessories will not be illustrated in your final portrait.

  • Don't

ANGLED OR OVERHEAD SHOTS. Be careful not to crop out ears, especially if they're particularly pointy or floppy. Our artists can only work with what's visible in the photo.

  • Don't

LOW LIGHTING OR LYING DOWN. Heavy shadows or a pose where the head and neck aren't fully visible will limit the detail we can capture.

Not Sure If Your Photo Will Work?

No problem! Email your image to us at Info@wilsonandmilo.com and we'll let you know before you order.

We regularly create portraits of pets who have passed away, so we understand it isn't always possible to follow every guideline. In many cases we can still create something beautiful, so just reach out and we'll do our best.
